Year 13 Students Visit the Chemistry Department

On 3rd of May, staff welcomed year 13 pupils from St Christopher's C of E school in Accrington, who were visiting to experience practical chemistry in a university setting. In the morning the students prepared transition metal glyoxime complexes, which are model compounds for vitamin B12, and characterised them by infrared and UV-vis spectroscopy.
